Evolution of Recovery honors the incredible strength and resilience of those who have faced the challenges of spinal cord injuries (SCI), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and strokes. This platform is dedicated to the real-life stories of survivors and caregivers—individuals who have faced adversity with courage and determination. Feeling hopeful and seeing changes for the future!
Evolution of Recovery began with one young woman’s fight for her future after a devastating car accident left her with a C4–C5 incomplete spinal cord injury, paralyzed and fighting for her life. She spent 360 days in the hospital, facing fear, pain, and a future of uncertainty. The cause of her accident, an uninsured driver that struck her from behind as she rode as a passenger in a moving vehicle. Her reality was, there would be no insurance to assist her in regaining her life. No programs would be offered to her as she was discharged, and she would have no access to assistance or restorative care. This experience revealed a painful truth: People living with paralysis are often left to navigate recovery alone. Evolution of Recovery was created to assist them in navigating change and by providing Scholarships for Acute Therapies through non-profit fundraising, grants, and community partnerships.
